Materials: Electrics

Here is what I’ve used for Pamthevan’s electrics:

  • 12V 110AH Leisure SuperBatt Battery = £70 from Amazonbattery leisure
  • Battery terminals (for the leisure battery) = £2.5 Amazoncar battery terminals
  • Split charge relay kit = = £80split charge relay kit
  • Screwdriver Voltage tester = £2.5 B&QSCREWDRIVER
  • 1 set of Dioder LED lights = £20 IKEADIODER

  1. How about an inverter for electrical hookup? Necessary for laptops and other small electronics. I’m a yank, so that could be an “us” thing, but I remember you mentioned laptop and other electronics in another post.

I have used 12V sockets and USB chargers connected to 5AH batteries to get similar results. I also incorporated a charge controller to allow for charging the batteries from an alternate source. This device appears to be intended for solar power as well so if you don’t want to drive to charge your batteries and have access to solar….

    1. Hi Pete,
I have actually an inverter installed, however I am not 100% happy with the set up so i’m waiting to write a blog post about it. It would be more efficient not to have one and to charge everything directly from the leisure battery, however I find it much easier to have an inverter where I can attach a power strip.
I would love to have solar, maybe on my next conversion? 🙂

  2. When I originally commented I clicked the “Notify me when new comments are added” checkbox and now each time
a comment is added I get three e-mails with the same comment.
Is there any way you can remove me from that service?
    Thanks a lot!

    1. Hi Byron, not sure why that’s happening. When you open the emails you should be able to “unsubscribe” from them, there should be a button on the bottom of the page! If that doesn’t work, I’ll just have to remove you from the newsletter.
